About Woodwindly
Woodwindly features musical arrangements for woodwind instruments - mainly wind quintets and clarinet quartets. All arrangements are by Hugh Levey, a clarinetist, bass clarinetist and saxophonist who lives in Scotland. Hugh has played woodwind ensemble music for over 40 years, and has been a founder member of 4 wind quintets.
Hugh graduated with an honours Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Manchester in 1981, where he studied clarinet with James Gregson of the Hallé Orchestra and Neville Duckworth of the Royal Northern College of Music. As a young man he appeared as clarinet soloist in concerti by Mozart, Stamitz, Weber, Hoffmeister and Krommer in Edinburgh, Manchester and London. Although Hugh pursued a professional career outside music, he plays bass clarinet with the platinum award-winning Glasgow Wind Band and the Glasgow Sinfonia, clarinet in the Melville Wind Quintet, Alto Sax and Clarinet in the Berrie Big Band, and Baritone Sax with the Capitol Big Band.
